Accounting Assistant Position

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to both administrative and accounting functions while serving as the first point of contact for visitors and callers. Responsibilities:

• Serve as the front desk receptionist, greeting visitors and managing incoming phone calls.
• Process accounts payable tasks, including invoice entry and coding to ensure accuracy.
• Handle credit card receipt entries and verify proper categorization.
• Sort and distribute incoming mail in a timely manner.
• Order office supplies and maintain inventory levels as needed.
• Match packing slips with corresponding invoices for reconciliation.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and other accounting-related tasks.
• Support administrative duties and perform additional assignments as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative role.
• Proficiency in accounts payable processes and invoice coding.
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for managing phone calls and visitor interactions.
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Experience with matching packing slips to invoices is preferred.
• Familiarity with office supply ordering and inventory management.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including accounting software.
