Aviation & Transportation Department - Portland International Jetport


Sign on bonus $1,500 and relocation $2,500 available


Job Summary:

The Portland International Jetport is hiring for an entry-level Airport Operations Coordinator!

  • An Airport Operations Coordinator provides centralized security and communications oversight for the airport while working in PWM’s 24/7/365 Airport Operations Center.



Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The primary duties of this position include: monitoring surveillance video, access control, alarms, mass notification systems, weather-related equipment, phones, and radios.

  • Airport Operations Coordinators assist with terminal inspections, TSA & FAA inspections, aircraft gate assignments, irregular operations, tests and audits as well as assisting airport management on matters involving safety, security, and customer service.

  • Acting as “Trusted Agents”, Airport Operations Coordinators are responsible for viewing, recording, and processing background checks for airport badge holders.


Qualified Candidates Will:


  • Be able to pass all local and federal background investigations, specifically TSA Regulation 49 CFR, Part 1542 as published in the Federal Registrar.

  • Hold a valid U.S. State Driver’s License, or be able to obtain one prior to employment. All Airport Operations Coordinators must demonstrate proficiency in airfield driving and FAA Part 139 inspection criteria upon completion of a six month probationary period.

  • Possess a working knowledge of FAA and TSA rules and regulations.

  • Be comfortable with technology use, including competency with MS Office and Google Workspace.

  • Display excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers including airport tenants, the general public, and City, State and Federal agencies.

  • Go above and beyond to exceed customer expectations, as our Airport Operations Coordinators represent Maine to our global and domestic travelers.


Preferred Skills & Experience:



Additional consideration will be given to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Airport Management or comparable airport related experience, experience at a commercial non-hub or larger airport in Airport Operations, Airport Security, or other applicable professional aviation experience.


Expected Hours/Schedule:



Airport Operations Coordinators work rotating 10 hour shifts/4 days a week, are required to be available for holidays and on-call shifts and are subject to mandatory overtime call-ins as the Jetport is a 24/7/365 operation.

Salary & Benefits:


This is a union position, Protech Grade 5, $24.88-28.00/hourly base starting rate depending on experience.
