About the CompanyMy client is one of Hawai‘i’s most established and trusted commercial contractors, known for delivering complex vertical construction, resort upgrades, public-facing renovations, and high-impact commercial facilities across the islands. Their portfolio includes work on some of the largest hospitality properties, major mixed-use developments, infrastructure improvements, and long-term programmatic renovation cycles.
Much like the major legacy builders in Hawai‘i’s construction landscape, my client is defined by:

Ability to self-perform select scopes and manage large consultant networks
A collaborative “one team” culture across islands

About the RoleMy client is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support commercial and hospitality building projects on Hawaii Island. Active work includes multi-floor hotel renovations, room refresh programs, tenant improvements, and commercial building upgrades—projects that mirror the complexity, pace, and operational sensitivity seen in large resort and facility renovations statewide.

Key ResponsibilitiesReview, track, and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, daily reports, and change orders.
Support Superintendents and Project Managers with day-to-day coordination needs.
Assist with subcontractor scheduling, logistics planning, and site sequencing.
Help maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Perform quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and procurement support.
Maintain QA/QC documentation, testing logs, and inspection records.
Communicate with owners, architects, and design teams to resolve field conflicts and clarify scope.
Interpret drawings and specifications and help ensure alignment in the field.
Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture on job sites.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or completion of a Construction Management certificate program.
3–6 years of vertical or commercial construction experience , ideally in hospitality, retail, healthcare, or similar.
Strong understanding of construction workflows, document control, and project communication.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; familiarity with P6 or MS Project is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project phasing.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Prior Hawai‘i construction experience strongly valued; Big Island candidates preferred.
Daily interaction with field leadership and hands-on involvement in commercial job sites.
Experience with the level of coordination and service expected on large resort/occupied-facility projects.
Opportunities to build long-term relationships with owners, consultants, and island partners.
A team environment that values humility, dependability, and follow-through.
Clear pathways into higher engineering and project management roles.
Competitive Salary: $90,000–$115,000 (DOE)
