Description:

The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in overseeing all aspects of branch operations, including sales performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. This role combines technical knowledge of industrial products, operational leadership, and sales management to drive branch profitability while maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. The Assistant Branch Manager helps lead a team of sales, warehouse, and technical staff to deliver accurate, timely, and quality service to customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing and mentoring a team of employees, including sales associates, warehouse staff, and technicians, ensuring staff perform safely and effectively.
  • Assist in branch operations, including procurement, inventory control, and warehouse logistics, while mitigating risks associated with warehouse equipment, material handling, and order fulfillment.
  • Monitor order processing and fulfillment to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and high customer satisfaction while addressing potential operational risks that could impact branch performance.
  • Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards to minimize hazards in the warehouse, shop, and customer-facing areas.
  • Work closely with the Branch Manager to develop and execute strategies that increase sales, expand market share, and achieve profitability goals.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by providing technical support, timely communication, and responsive service.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints effectively to prevent operational, safety, or reputational risks.
  • Analyze sales data, operational performance, and market trends to identify growth opportunities and improve branch efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and leadership on initiatives related to business development, cost control, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as acting Branch Manager when the Branch Manager is unavailable, ensuring continuity of leadership and safe, compliant operations.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

Technical and Hard Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of motion control and industrial automation products, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking.
  • Proficiency in inventory management, logistics coordination, and supply chain processes.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications and online or Windows-based cataloging and inventory management systems.

Management and Soft Skills

  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and guide a diverse team while maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with staff, customers, and management.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address operational, customer, and safety challenges.
  • Customer-focused approach, maintaining professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a branch, operations, or sales management role, ideally within an industrial or technical products environment.
  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, or motion control applications preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the branch, warehouse, and shop for extended periods.
  • Regularly lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift heavier equipment or materials.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and other physical activity associated with warehouse, shop, and customer environments.
  • Exposure to warehouse and shop equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and assembly machinery.
  • Possible contact with hydraulic fluids, oils, or other chemicals used in operational processes.
  • Must be able to navigate moderate noise, temperature, and environmental variations safely.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, stressful situations, and high-pressure customer or operational challenges while maintaining leadership effectiveness.

Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000
