Network Engineer | San Antonio, TX | 6 month contract | $40-$50p/h

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Professional Services project team. In this client-facing role, you will design, implement, support, and maintain enterprise IT environments while collaborating closely with a skilled technical team. The ideal candidate excels in managing multiple projects, delivering high-quality solutions, and supporting clients across a wide range of industries.

Desired Technical Proficiency

• Strong troubleshooting skills within complex network environments.
• Expertise in Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and security hardware.
• Experience supporting data center, education, and enterprise environments.
• Understanding of corporate IT services and operations.
• Experience with advanced switching technologies (VSS, vPC, OTV, VXLAN).
• Strong knowledge of IP routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF) and BGP implementation for multi-homed networks.
• In-depth understanding of WAN technologies (MPLS/ELAN, VPN, IPSec/SSL).
• Knowledge of firewall concepts and experience with Cisco ASA and Firepower.
• Strong understanding of QoS at Layer 2 and Layer 3.
• Ability to deploy network management and reporting systems.
• Experience with Cisco Meraki, IOS, IOS XR, IOS XE, and NX-OS.
• Familiarity with advanced solutions such as Cisco ISE, ACS, Prime, and Cisco DNA.
• Experience migrating complex network infrastructures from legacy to modern standards.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with networking technologies; professional services or integrator background is a plus.
• Cisco CCNA required (or willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe); CCNP preferred.
• Willingness to broaden technical skills across wireless, voice, or related domains.
• Understanding of solution life cycles from design to operation.
• Strong technical documentation and diagramming skills (MS Visio proficiency preferred).
• Ability to meet background screening requirements for secure environments.
• Strong understanding of wireless technologies, including configuration and troubleshooting across multiple platforms (with emphasis on Cisco and Meraki).
