Salary: $45,000 - $47,000
East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) has an opening for a Regional Planner in the Research Services Department. This position will report directly to the Research Services Manager. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to: developing quality data products using a wide range of spatial and traditional statistical techniques; responding to data requests from a variety of audiences including staff members, government officials and the general public; communicating research findings to senior staff and agency partners; manipulating, cleaning, and maintaining data; researching issues in planning and policy by reviewing literature and making use of online data; and preparing information for updates to the EWG website with respect to current demographic and economic information.
The successful candidate will have experience monitoring, analyzing, and presenting information on one or more of the following topics: employment, business and industry, demographics, land use, housing, environment. Essential skills include: the ability to analyze large data sets, familiarity with statistical software, such as R, SPSS, Stata, etc., and excellent oral and written communication skills. Desirable skills include: experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), advanced statistical research methods, and familiarity with publicly available economic data.
This position requires a bachelors degree with major coursework in urban planning, economics, policy analysis or other directly related fields and 1 year of directly related professional planning experience (including internships or similar experience) or an equivalent combination of directly related education and professional experience. A graduate degree in a directly related field may be substituted for 1 year of experience.

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $47,000 annually, with actual starting salary based on background and experience.
