The Opportunity We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Urban Designer / Principal to join our Seattle studio. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape major projects across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, integrating transit, mobility, and urban development to enhance human experience. The successful candidate will drive project excellence while taking a lead role in identifying new business opportunities, cultivating client and partner networks, and positioning the studio for strategic growth. We are looking for a proven leader who brings both design rigor and business acumen, thrives on collaboration, sees the city as a system, and understands urban design's role in supporting community, equity, and climate resilience. This role will contribute to studio leadership, national practice engagement, project delivery, and pursuit strategy, focusing on high-impact planning, transit, and infrastructure projects. Primary Responsibilities Lead large-scale urban projects, focusing on transit-oriented development, multimodal infrastructure, and land use. Collaborate across disciplines—architecture, infrastructure, mobility, landscape—to generate community-driven solutions. Drive business development in the Northwest, build relationships with public agencies and private clients, and expand the studio’s regional impact. Contribute to regional strategy and mentor junior staff. Manage teams through all project phases, ensuring quality, innovation, and adherence to budgets and deadlines. Required Qualifications 15-20 years of experience in urban design, planning, architecture, or related fields with leadership in complex public projects. Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Planning, or related discipline. Business development experience is a plus. Experience with large-scale public projects and knowledge of the Puget Sound Region. Strong communication skills and experience managing complex projects. Proficiency in relevant software (Adobe, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, ESRI, etc.). Passion for sustainable design; certifications like CPHD, LEED, WELL are advantageous.
