Job Description & RequirementsDepartment: Medical Surgical Cardiac ICU | RN\n\nCertifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS\n\nUnit Details: 16 beds | Ratios 1:2 (occasional 1:1 for TPA, balloon pump, post-crani)\n\nPatient Population: Sepsis, STEMI, COVID, stroke, neuro, renal/respiratory failure, COPD, cancer, DKA\n\nAdvanced Therapies: ICPs, balloon pump (occasional), CRRT, Impella, EVDs, lumbar drains, hypothermia, neuro monitoring\n\nSkills: Titrate drips (sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin). RNs read/interpret tele.\n\nSupport: Charge nurse takes assignment; CNAs ~1:10; full RT support (NC to vents)\n\nSchedule: 12s (6:30a–7p / 6:30p–7a). Unit scheduler assigns. Every other weekend; holidays as needed.\n\nFloating: Primarily PCU; may float hospital-wide based on skillset\n\nScrubs: Navy blue (RN)\n\nOrientation: 2 shifts\n\nNotes: Fast-paced unit with eICU remote monitoring, bedside shift report, hourly rounding. Open to learners; strong critical thinking required. Diverse patient population.\n\nCompliance / Policies\n\n50-mile radius rule; candidates cannot be FT/PT/PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity\n\nDriver ’s license required at submittal (used to verify radius)\n\nFingernails: Artificial nails prohibited—refusal to remove = termination\n\nOrientation Exam: Open-book RN exam on Friday; 90% required or termination\n\nRTO: Must be submitted upfront (≤7 days per 13-week contract); no post-submission RTO
