Job Summary Peru State has a staff of four full‑time athletic trainers and sponsors 13 sports with approximately 400 athletes. We have three full‑service athletic training facilities on campus. The College is currently investing $20 million in new recreational and athletic facilities. This is a 12‑month position. Sport assignment will be based on department needs and discussed during the interview, likely to be volleyball and cheerleading. Responsibilities Provide preventative care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Assist with the daily operation of the athletic training facility, including inventory, budget and purchasing. Cover scheduled practices and games, including post‑season travel. Communicate with coaches for assigned teams. Document injuries, rehabilitation and doctor visits appropriately. Supervise intern athletic‑training students and student workers as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned by the head athletic trainer. Work night and weekend hours and be able to operate in extreme hot or cold, bend, crouch, climb and lift in excess of 75 lb. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field. BCO certification is required; applicants eligible for BCO certification will be considered. Nebraska athletic‑training license or eligibility to apply. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with the campus community. Valid driver’s license. Exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions; position covered by the NSCPA bargaining unit. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Previous athletic‑training experience and knowledge of intercollegiate athletics in higher education.
