We are seeking a skilled and versatile individual to join our team as CNC Machinist. This position plays a key role in supporting both production and engineering by machining a wide range of materials, including plastics and various metals, to produce high-quality production parts, tooling, and fixtures. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver who thrives in developing innovative machining solutions that directly support Watts' mission of providing safe, clean water for the world.

This position reports to the Value Stream Leader. This role is onsite and is based in St. Pauls, NC.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
    \n
  • Load and unload parts to and from machines, jigs, or fixtures while checking castings or components for flaws or discrepancies in raw materials or from prior operations.
  • \n
  • Must complete in-process inspection on components being produced, along with necessary SPC charting to document continuous process control.
  • \n
  • Completion of production records such as recap cards and pan tickets. This includes use of gages and precision measuring equipment.
  • \n
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup Repair/Rebuild Customer Product returns.
  • \n
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • \n
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • \n
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • \n
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • \n
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • \n
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • \n
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • \n
  • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • \n
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • \n
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, organized work area.
  • \n

Required Qualifications:
    \n
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or a combination of education and experience.
  • \n
  • 3+ years of experience in CNC and manual machining.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and material properties, including G-code and M-code, and basic edits.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • \n
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures.
  • \n
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a technical school or apprenticeship program.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in a machining environment.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company's location in St. Pauls, NC. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
