Information Technology Manager Urology Centers of Alabama Job Summary: The Information Technology Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the information systems and technology infrastructure that support the clinical, administrative, and operational functions of the health care practice. This role ensures the reliability, security, and compliance of all IT systems, including electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, network operations, and data security, while providing strategic leadership and hands‑on support. Essential Functions Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the practice’s operational and clinical goals. Lead technology initiatives that enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and support regulatory compliance. Evaluate, recommend, and oversee the adoption of new technologies, software, and systems. Manage and maintain servers, networks, telecommunications, and all related hardware/software. Responsible for maintenance and expansion of IT infrastructure. Oversee device inventory and decommissioning ensuring HIPAA compliant disposal. Ensure uptime and performance of mission‑critical systems such as EHR, practice management, billing, and imaging systems. Oversee system backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, OSHA, CMS, Payor Compliance, and other federal/state health care regulations. Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and access controls. Monitor potential cybersecurity threats and implement protective measures. Provide technical support for staff, clinicians, and administrators. Train employees on new systems, security protocols, and technology best practices. Manage helpdesk operations, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues. Manage vendor relationships for EHR, software, hardware, and IT service providers. Negotiate contracts and monitor service‑level agreements (SLAs) in conjunction with executive leadership. Prepare and manage the IT department budget. Supervise IT staff, contractors, and consultants as needed, BAAs. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration. Conduct an annual HIPAA security risk assessment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field. Minimum 5 years of IT management experience, with at least 2 years in a health care or medical practice environment. In‑depth understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and other health care regulatory requirements. Experience with network management, cybersecurity, and cloud‑based solutions (MSP). Excellent problem‑solving, leadership, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Certification in health care IT (e.g., CPHIMS, HCISPP) or IT security (CISSP). Experience with medical imaging (PACS) and laboratory information systems (LIS). Strong knowledge of EHR systems (Veradigm).
