Overview:  
The Pre-Release Therapist supports participants as they begin their healing journey. Working within a correctional facility, you will work alongside a comprehensive care team to introduce participants to our healing-first approach and help them begin contemplating their treatment plan.

Your role will involve:
  • Facilitating excellent participant programming: 
    • Conducting impactful group sessions with participants within a correctional facility
    • Providing frequent, supportive communications to participants 
    • Preparing for sessions in advance to maximize effectiveness of interactions 
    • Evaluating participant progress and support needed 
    • Upholding the quality and fidelity of Concordance Re-entry Model curriculum when delivering group sessions
    • Building a bond of trust with participants to ensure smooth transition to post-release services
  • Communicating with multi-disciplinary care team and external stakeholders:
    • Documenting sessions in electronic record system, including noteworthy participant interactions
    • Working collaboratively with participants’ care teams, providing input on progress and flagging holistic participant needs
    • When working within a correctional center, building strong, professional, positive relationships with prison staff and administration
    • Participating in internal meetings (Behavioral Health and Wellness team meetings, All Team meetings, 1:1 supervisor meetings, and training sessions) 
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Ability to work independently
  • Skill in documenting interactions in case notes and flagging participant needs 
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and compassion in all interactions

 

Required education, licensure, and experience: 

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, behavioral health, or related field 
  • Independent clinical license
  • 3-5 years of experience working in mental health and substance use disorders
  • Familiarity with and endorsement of 12 step program 
  • Ability to pass DOC security clearance 
  • Driver’s license
  • CPR / Adult First Aid certification preferred
